Who Is Emre Caglayan, PA-C?

Emre Caglayan, PA-C, is a board-certified Physician Assistant with a distinguished academic background and a career built on clinical excellence. Emre holds three advanced degrees, completing his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at South University with Honors, a Master of Science in Sports Medicine from Armstrong Atlantic State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Wofford College.

These credentials gave Emre a rare dual foundation, deep scientific knowledge of the human body combined with specialized expertise in athletic and sports-related injury, that has defined his clinical career ever since.

Emre's clinical journey spans over a decade of hands-on patient care across multiple settings and specialties. After graduating with honors from South University's highly regarded Physician Assistant program, he began his career at Optim Orthopedics before joining BOSS Orthopaedics, where he spent nearly nine years treating patients across multiple Lowcountry locations.

During his time in orthopedic practice, Emre became highly skilled at performing in-depth history and physical examinations, prescribing and managing medications, ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and imaging results, and assessing the need for surgical intervention. His experience with athletic and sports-related injuries, a specialty born from his Master's degree in Sports Medicine, makes him an outstanding resource for active patients, weekend warriors, and athletes of all ages.

His background also includes clinical experience in emergency medicine, internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, behavioral medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and primary care, giving him the broad clinical foundation that urgent care demands.

A significant portion of urgent care visits involve musculoskeletal complaints, twisted ankles, suspected fractures, muscle strains, joint injuries, and sports-related trauma. This advanced imaging technique allows him to examine joints in real time, detecting inflammation such as joint effusions (“water on the knee”) and precisely guiding joint injections for conditions like tennis elbow and rotator cuff tendonitis. For patients managing arthritis and chronic inflammation, this is a significant benefit.
